Drawing the curtains
27th May 2008
After several long years of the Gorilla Nest, the time has come to draw the curtains. The Chief Silverback has not been down the club recently as much as he might like and hasn’t been in touch with all the gossip, here say, rumour, conjecture and downright lies that make up the GN’s news content. I’ve tried to find someone else to pass on the mantle to but with the advent of facebook and with a fabulous new Molesey website the time has come to call it a day.
I’m getting all emotional now! *sniff*
Feel free to leave your comments on the best and the worst of the nest. What you loved and loathed through the 8 years (yes it really has been that long) - I’d also like to thank Auntie Greyback and Chunk for stepping in at the right time and driving on the quality of the GN to new heights.
I think I’ll go and take some of Auntie Greyback’s advice and do a 5k ergo!
Take it easy and enjoy what you do.
Chief Silverback
It’s hammer time…again!
2nd March 2008
Tracy and Avelline have just returned from a snow covered Boston (in the USA rather than the one in Lincolnshire) where Tracy won and brought home another hammer having her category in a time that would have smashed the time for the younger category too. It looks as though she‘s going to need a good tool box as she now has 4!
Avelline did a brilliant job and came home in 9th place in the lightweight event…not quite as good
but a very competitive field that a few seconds either way spelt the difference between brilliance and disaster. Still top 10 is all good on a world platform.

Well done both on a great result
Kit Time
1st February 2008
Crew room have brought out a range of race kit. It does not replace Godfrey and they are the primary and will be the primary supplier for Molesey kit. The kit is now available on there web site, so for those needing to buy kit for the head, then there is an identical in design but in JL materials now available. The dead line is this Monday, the 4th, so the orders need to be in this weekend! Remember, Godfrey is available right up to there normal closer deadline!
Next week, the site will include a whole new range of training kit, new designs and ideas and something a bit more exciting than the usual.. well as exciting as kit gets anyway! But this range won’t be on until next week! Will keep you posted!

It’s the Molesey Christmas Party on Saturday so make sure you come along dressed up in all your finest Father Christmas outfits.
The Molesey Gym Appeal
7th November 2007
As the winter approaches we need to take heed of the lessons learnt last year, after wind and high water forced the club off the water for so long, land training became an ever increasing part of the clubs routine through the winter months. Medals and Henley successes during the summer months are greatly influenced by the quality of this training.
Last year we needed an Eight, the fund raising was a great success, the contributions toward this were outstanding, raising £20,000. We are now the proud owners of one of the fastest eights on the Thames.
To make this Eight faster for the coming year, the Athletes need to be stronger, fitter and harder. Our future GB athletes want and need better and more specific equipment to propel them into the professionalizing rowing world. The equipment is not fancy, it’s functional. It will see the club through for many years to come.
How I propose that you can help is to buy little bit for the gym, if everyone can help a little, the gym will get everything it needs! Bit’s here, bits there, everyone can own a there bit. And what little it is to us, it means so much more to the athletes who are dreaming of there own Rowing success story.
I want our athletes to have no excuses, they can win, if we support them!
Please have a look at the list below and own a bit of the club, group together, or if your feeling rich go alone.

Food will be served but not during the passage of play. Come dressed in white and red and with a hymn book so we can raise the roof with “sweet chairot” and a “Jerusalem”.
Have you seen this oarsman
10th October 2007

Have you seen the Molesey oarsman in this photo NOT looking at the naked ladies?!?
I can’t believe it. It’s not right. Hodge what were you thinking.
Dates for your Diary
7th October 2007
Right grab your diary, filofax or on-wall-calendar and start writing the following dates into it.
On the 3rd November it’s the 4s Head of the River, the start is at 10.30 so it’s quite reasonable but may mean that the day long boozing takes it’s toll on MBC’s finest.
The Thurday after that (the 8th November) it is Bonfire night at Molesey so come down for club supper and to be lit up by fireworks.
Then comes the Annual dinner on the evening of the 16th November. It’s on a Friday night so you might want to think about taking time off work to prepare your body for the alcoholic onslaught. Bets are being taken now in the bookies on Walton Road as to the first member of the club to not make the starters….
My bet is on Ben, either that or Tom after his team faced a crushing defeat over the weekend!! hahaha.
